On Land Rover Maintenance - A writing on self-sufficiency, aging, running, and photography

About this endeavor

My Goals and Aspirations

If you are over the age of 50, chances are you have started to witness the effects of aging on your memory and physcical capacity. You may have also noticed a change in your perceptions, especially so regarding your goals and aspirations. Is the place you want to land at age 70 the same one you embraced at the age of 40? Is there some question as to the viability of your profession or vocation? Perhaps I'm alone in this, but I have a hunch the room is crowded. This writing is my way to help myself sort through that as time progresses. It is framed in the context of Land Rover maintenance as a way to set my compass.

Story Title

It seems fitting to me, in consideration of my impressions of Land Rover history and use, that it should be the vehicle guided by your compass, both literally and figuratively. I use the stallwart vehicle as a basis for the book's ramblings, and not as a technical reference in how to maintain a Land Rover. I will use actual maintenance tasks (and there are many on a 1967 Land Rover) as a metaphorical basis for portions of the book, and in turn reference my observations on life as a way to approach actual maintenance on Land Rovers and some of life's other efforts. I decided on this type of online format since it allows me to edit the chapters as my impressions evolve, and I know this will take place. I've attempted to follow through with the entire work, but stop short when the first chapters have been eclipsed in facts or opinion.

Comments

I don't know what might draw you to this page, but I'm guessing it would first be from a search on how to repair or maintain your Land Rover. If that is the case I sincerely apologize. Moreso I extend my sympathy as I know what it is like to wade through the trials and tribulations of any modern Land Rover (2004 or newer) that is no longer covered by a warranty.

But regardless of what brings you here, if you have any comments on this or any of the Gray Squirrel pages, please email me at tonder@midco.net

I look forward to hearing from you.
